The biggest barrier to proper accounting isn't price or features — it's knowledge. Most business owners aren't accountants. They don't know a debit from a credit, and they shouldn't have to.
The Problem
Traditional accounting software assumes you know accounting. Create an invoice? You need to select the revenue account, the AR account, and the tax account. Record a payment? Pick the bank account, clear the receivable, handle the tax.
For an accountant, this is fine. For a shop owner? It's a wall.
How Auto-Wiring Solves It
PinnacleFN flips the approach. Instead of asking you to choose accounts, it chooses for you:
- Create an invoice → Revenue and Accounts Receivable entries auto-post
- Record a receipt → Bank debited, AR cleared — automatically
- Enter a bill → Expense and Accounts Payable entries auto-post
- Make a payment → AP cleared, bank credited — automatically
You see a simple form: customer, items, amounts, tax. Behind the scenes, perfect double-entry journals are being created.
For Accountants: You Still Have Control
Auto-wiring doesn't mean you can't override. Every form has an "Advanced" section where accountants can:
- Change the default accounts - Add custom journal lines - Split transactions across departments - Override tax calculations
The default path is simple. The expert path is there when you need it.
The Setup
When you first create your account, PinnacleFN seeds a chart of accounts based on your business type (Trading, Services, Manufacturing, NGO, or Public Sector). Default account mappings are set automatically:
- Accounts Receivable → 1100 - Accounts Payable → 2000 - Revenue → 4000 - Cost of Goods Sold → 5000
You can change any of these in Settings. But most businesses never need to.
That's the goal: accounting that works for everyone, not just accountants.
